Water Damage From Gray Water

We have what is called gray water, which is the second type of water that our water companies have to deal with in regards to used water. This water comes from the water we use to wash our clothes, our dishes, and use for bathing. In residential areas, this type of water comprises of about 50 to 80% of our waste water.

All of the water we use has to go through a recycling process to return this bad water into water that we can use again. This process takes some time, and this type of water isn't harmful to humans. This water can be harmful to pets if they drink it because it is full of chemicals that we would be using to clean these items. If this type of water were to overflow onto your floors or carpets, you can come up with some really bad damage to your floors because it can seep into the wood in your floors and make them rot.

The water from your washer can run over your grass outside, and it will sometimes kill it outright. If you need to do these things, always try to clean up after yourself. Dry off around your washer to make sure that the hoses aren't leaking. If they are, then wipe it up. Make sure that you wipe up after you do your dishes because these places the water will be able to seep into the wood around your sink or under the sink can ruin the structure.

When getting rid of these chemicals that we are using to do these jobs, you will want to run hot water for a few seconds so the chemicals will be washed out of the lines completely so you will not have any of these chemicals or broken down oil or grease left in your water lines. This can cause a build up to set in your pipes and when it gets bad enough, it can make your pipes break or become plugged.

Any build up of water pressure can cause you damage. It can cause broken pipes and a rise in your water bill that you will have to pay at the end of the month, so check your pipes regularly and fix all of the problems that you might find. If there are problems that you can't fix, you will need to call a plumber and have him come and fix the problem.
