What Does Your House And Custom Closets Say About You?

A house is a home because it reflects who are you. This reflection is composed of many things, the furnishing you've selected, the colors, the fabrics, floor coverings, etc. right down to your custom closet. Although you furniture or the items in your closets don't tell the whole story, it is a beginning.

What's Old Is New Again

Decorating a home can be a daunting task that few may undertake. Many people will go to a furniture store to select all new furniture thinking it will project a feeling of prestige into the room. Sometimes it may come across as being sterile and un-lived in. The use of pre-owned items mixed in with the new might give a space a unique personality.

Many of these items may be in your home already, stored in the attic. You can check with your parents or grandparents to see if they have some useful items. You'll discover many of these stored "treasures" will come with a story or memory attached that will stay with you as long as you have the piece.

Don't limit yourself to only large pieces of furniture. Small decor accent pieces work in the same manner as furniture. It will not take many pieces to make an impact, just a few pieces on the shelves of your custom closets and scattered around will do the trick.

Make The Right Choice With Color and Texture

The clothes you wear reflect on you as an individual more than anything else. Your preferred colors, textures and patterns that hang in your custom closets will be carried over the furnishings of your home. Select a favorite piece and make note of the color. Then take varying tones of this color and spread it throughout your home. Don't be afraid to make of the bold!

Textures and patterns can be carried into the room the same way. Your custom closet may contain a large amount of tweed or silk. Simply carry these same varying textures through your home in selecting furnishings.

Custom Closets To The Rescue

When you have worked to showcase your personality through selection of the right colors and textures you don't want it ruined by having a cluttered closet area. Sort though your items making note of what items need to stay and what can be donated to charities. The items in the "keep" pile can further be sorted into different items based on storage needs. Some items may be best suited to be stored in baskets or drawers while custom designed hangers or shelves may work better for others. If you have an area that can't be hidden, you may want to highlight it instead by the use of a conversation piece. A visitor will be drawn to the unique piece rather than notice the less than perfect area.

The secret of showcasing your personality depends on your selection of items, new, pre-owned or both along with the chosen colors and textures and how they are all organized. Even if you have a standard and basic style home you can make a valued addition to it by adding custom closets to help keep everything organized.
